For this event, we wanted students to make something futuristic and high tech using simple, household materials. With virtual reality viewers being all the rage, we thought it would be great for students to make their own 3D viewer in the form of a 3D hologram projector they could use with their cell phone or iPad. Using transparent lids of spinach containers (CD covers could also be used) and templates we developed ourselves, students were able to construct their own 3D hologram viewers. 3D holographic videos were streamed from Youtube to test viewers. Students and staff were impressed by the simplicity of the project (and how well it worked) with many staff taking templates home for their own kids to use.
